At Duinepos we are really serious about people and the environment. What started out as a community development – and black empowerment tourism project has since grown into a worthy, socially responsible business. Our staff members are passionate about social responsibility and ecotourism that benefits the local community. We have integrated our approach toward sustainability and responsible tourism in every aspect of our business.
We use suppliers that are also serious about the development of people and the local community. The couches in the chalets’ living room were for instance made by people with disabilities from Huis Horison in Stellenbosch. Stunning Upholsterers, who at the time employed mostly people with disabilities, supplied the mattresses for the living areas. Do It supplied the painted fabric bed overlays and curtains for the rooms. The fabric painting was done by formerly unemployed women from Langebaan who learned new techniques.
At Duinepos we also do our bit to give back to the community. We supplied new mats, table cloths and learning equipment for the Langebaan Primary School after getting input on their teachers’ needs. We also helped to upgrade the schools computer room. We are helping to meet the needs of two local creches, namely Butterfly Educare and Sonskyn Kleuterskool. Our staff is also contributing to the needs of senior citizens in our community that are members of the Silver Tree Senior Club in Langebaan. We believe that these efforts contribute to better the prospects of people and children in our community.
